CAPTAIN'S LOG

March is almost behind us and I'm surprised to say that I'm glad to see this one go. We've had normal March weather in February and lots of wind, rain and cold this past month. We've made some really good catches some days and had to work for 'em more days than I care to remember. Good news is...it looks like we'll have more reasonable, warmer temps for awhile in the future and the magical 60 degree water temp has been reached and the Crappie are definitely spawning!

CRAPPIE: Good catches are being made much more frequently now. Spider rigging, trolling, minnow fishing, and casting are all producing. Fish are being caught as deep as 26ft and as shallow as 2ft and everywhere in between. Crappie are spawning!

BASS: Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass are being caught by fishing spinner baits and soft plastics on points and in deeper pockets.

WHITE BASS: I've caught more small White Bass this past spring than I can remember doing before. Should be great summer White Bass bite. They're definitely in the lake!

BLUEGILL: Large numbers of Bluegill are staging on secondary channel ledges. Believe it or not, I could catch more gills now than I probably can in May, when they're spawning.

We've posted new pictures on our website if you'd like to view them.

Thanks for reading my report.
See ya on the water!
