We’re right in the middle of an extended cold spell here in Kentucky. I’ve been on the water a good bit putting out brush, but I haven’t fished this past week. I have noticed a couple things of interest though. One...we’re getting a good, much needed, shad kill and this should make for better fishing this spring. Two....Nobody’s fishing. So, if you’re looking for peace and quiet, Kentucky Lake’s a good place to be right now.
If you do have the urge to go, I’d fish 18’ to 25’ deep in the mouths of bays with jigs and minnows for Crappie. For bass, I’d fish 20’ to 30’ with a 1/4oz jig and finesse worm. The best action might be fishing a 1/4oz jig head and minnow 30’ to 40’ deep on the main river channel for Sauger.
The action should get real good with the next warm spell. Hope to have more info for you next time!
Capt Kirk, out!
